Q: What is colour management?

Colour management is the process that ensures that what is printed or displayed on-screen matches the original image or design as closely as is possible.

This process starts from when an image is captured (or a layout is designed) right through until it is viewed by our own eyes on a display or in a print.

ICC profiles should be used by all the devices and software in the entire process to ensure that the fidelity of all the hues and tones are preserved at their best.

Colour management assists to get the best possible result now matter which printer, material, or display is used to produce the end result.

And while it is a complex and exacting process please ask your printer or sign-maker for advice about obtaining the best results from your files.
